Connor is appointed as a partner for the CHRN (Charity HR Network)

We are thrilled to announce that we have officially been appointed as a partner for the CHRN (Charity HR Network).

The CHRN is a registered charity, dedicated to promoting improved standards of HR Services within organisations in the voluntary, charitable and not for profit sector.

Partnering with this esteemed charity is an extension of our values as a business and everything we stand for – putting people at the heart of what we do and making a real difference to individuals on a personal and professional scale. We are delighted to be able to provide dedicated support, insights, and best practice to this Network’s Learning and Development special interest group.

The CHRN’s Chair, Peter Reeve, explains,

“The Charities HR Network are delighted to announce a partnership agreement with Connor. Connor will be bringing their expertise and experience to the Network as a partner to their Learning and Development special interest group. Peter Reeve, the Interim CEO of the Network said ‘we are really pleased that through the special interest group our members will be able to draw on the support of Paul Armstrong and the wider Connor team. Connor are well known, and regarded, by colleagues in the sector having worked with organisations such as the British Heart Foundation.’

The aims of CHRN are to promote and develop HR practice and practitioners in the third sector. We currently have over 120 member organisations including RSPCA, BHF and the MND Association. The special interest groups are a relatively new development and allow HR practitioners with a passion for particular areas of work to come together and share experiences, and through our partners, be given insights into best practice and new developments, as well as practice in other sectors.”

As a people services organisation, we are passionate about supporting charitable organisations, with a 30-year track record for delivering a range of services across the full HR lifecycle – from talent acquisition, to change management, HR services and outplacement, people development to coaching – in order to develop the practice, skills, and capabilities within this critical sector.

Fraser Silvey, MD at Connor says,

“We understand the challenges this sector faces, particularly as we navigate through challenging economic times.

This partnership with CHRN gives us the opportunity to provide members of the network with vital learning and HR resources where they are limited, and indirectly help a wide range of charities – something we can all be very proud of.”

We will be joining a number of CHRN’s existing partners, who put the charity sector at the forefront of their business model.

Paul Armstrong, Director of People Development at Connor adds,

“I’m both professionally and personally delighted to be part of the CHRN Network. While the Network is already well established and recognised, a number of our existing charitable clients were asking if we could help. Peter and his team have helped us to make this possible and it could not have come at a more interesting time, with Connor’s own trajectory and that of the network gaining a key affiliation with (and recognition from) the CIPD no less, with a memorandum of understanding in place. Our initial remit will be focused on supporting the Learning and Development special interest group, but if called on there are so many other areas we may be able to help in and would be happy to do so.”

The memorandum of understanding with the CIPD and CHRN is in place to provide a new range of training and accreditation opportunities that will define standards and overall skills. CHRN are proud to add to this to their networked solution, to help this sector to navigate challenges and safeguard their organisations for the future.
